If you know me or have visited my website before, Michael will need little introduction. But I have created this page to shine a light on my late husband - an extraordinarily talented artist who left us too soon, aged just 35.

Born in 1948 at Great Brockhampton Farm in Snowshill, deep in the heart of the Cotswolds, Michael’s passion for painting was evident at an early age. We met when I was sixteen, and our journey together eventually took us to Rome, where we lived a blissfully hedonistic life - travelling, painting, and immersing ourselves in art. We never imagined that illness would bring us back to the Cotswolds for treatment, or that we would never return to our life in Italy.

Despite his short but prolific career, Michael’s paintings found homes in collections around the world. Yet without today’s technology and media reach, his talent remained largely undiscovered by a wider audience.

Now, I am determined to bring lasting recognition to his work. An Artist’s Life - a beautifully crafted book featuring a collection of his paintings and sketches, interwoven with my personal reflections - offers an intimate glimpse into both the artist and the man whose love of nature and beauty shaped everything he created.

The book launch coincides with a retrospective exhibition of Michael’s work at Broadway Museum and Art Gallery in June - the first time his art has been displayed as a collection in forty years. Early collectors and new admirers alike are already expressing excitement about this long-overdue tribute. As I gathered pieces from private collections, I was deeply moved by the admiration and affection still held for his work. His ability to capture atmosphere, light, and movement remains as compelling today as ever.

For the first time, I am also releasing a series of limited-edition prints of Michael’s paintings - available both at the exhibition and here on my website (see full images below). With the book & prints launch, a special auction and retrospective exhibition, we are not only honouring his past but ensuring his legacy reaches a new and wider audience.

Without Michael’s influence, I may never have become a painter myself. And still, I learn from him - his self-portrait watches over me in my studio, alongside the portrait he painted of me.

How commission bids work:
Commission bids (also known as absentee bids or written bids) are instructions you give to an auctioneer to bid on your behalf when you can’t attend the auction in person or live online.

1. You set a maximum bid: Before the auction, you submit a commission bid stating the highest amount you’re willing to pay for an item.

2. Auctioneer bids for you: During the auction, the auctioneer will bid incrementally on your behalf, just enough to keep you in the lead, up to your maximum.

3. Winning the lot: If no one bids higher than your maximum, you win the item—possibly for less than your maximum if there wasn’t strong competition.

4. If you’re outbid: If someone bids more than your commission bid, you simply don’t win the item.
